| Tom Morello was born in New York City on May 30th, 1964. He grew up in Libertyville, IL. Tom 's mom, Mary started Parents for Rock and Rap--an organization against censorsihp in music. Tom's Father was a guerilla in the Mau-Mau uprising that freed Kenya from British rule. In Libertyville Tom began to play the guitar by paying a man $5 to teach him how to play a KISS song, instead he told Tom he had to learn the basics. Tom did not want to learn the basics so he left. It was at Harvard University when he began to play the guitar again. He practiced eight hours a day. After Tom got his Social Studies degree from Harvard he went to L.A. to start a band. Tom began playing guitar for a band called Lock Up. Shortly after Lock Up, Rage began. |
